Mr. Editor:

The Executive has submitted the first package of amendments to the tax compliance bill, which is currently being discussed in the Senate Finance Committee. These modifications should be seen as a positive signal in the market.

Regarding bank secrecy, the changes appear reasonable, as there will be a streamlined process and an intermediate rule so that when tax crimes are presumed and transactions exceed 2,000 UF, a simplified procedure will be applied. In this way, it is positive that when these conditions are presumed, the operation is carried out through this type of procedure, which aligns with what has been announced by the SII and is closely related to the fight against organized crime.

In relation to the anonymous whistleblower, the new amendment raises the standard, as it disqualifies those who provide false information. This appears entirely reasonable and sets a barrier for those who seek only to undermine the reliability of the information being presented or the criteria used to evaluate future processes. It is therefore logical to disqualify an anonymous whistleblower if they provide false information.
