On Wednesday, November 27, the webinar “Impact of Tax Treaties: Chile, Peru, and the new Chile–U.S. agreement” took place, organized by CCL Auditores Consultores together with the Peruvian firm Payet, Rey, Cauvi, Pérez Abogados.
At the event, International Tax Director Javiera Campos participated as a speaker on behalf of CCL, while Senior Associate Lisset López presented on behalf of the Peruvian firm, and Partner Vanessa Watanabe served as moderator.
The topics covered during the event included the controversial implications of the Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) between Peru and Chile, such as indirect transfers and their impact on international reorganizations, as well as the concept of beneficial ownership in passive income based on case law and tax authority criteria. In addition, the experts analyzed the new DTA between Chile and the United States, highlighting its distinctive benefits and applicability standards.
During the webinar, more than 30 participants from Chile and Peru joined and actively engaged at the end of the session, where a Q&A segment allowed for various questions.
